BJAC’s UNC Hospitals Imaging & Spine Center Project Earns LEED® Silver Certification

New Health Care Center Earns Recognition for Sustainability and Green Design.

Raleigh, NC, July 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Dan Fields, AIA and CMO at BJAC, pa (http://www.bjac.com), an architectural firm offering professional services for specialized, complex institutional projects, has announced that the UNC Hospitals Imaging & Spine Center, located on N.C. 54 in Chapel Hill, has achieved LEED® Silver Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. By using less energy, LEED®-certified buildings save money for communities, businesses and taxpayers, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger society.

The Imaging & Spine Center makes it easier for both physicians and patients to tap into the world-class care and expertise of UNC Health Care by offering both imaging and spine care services in one location. The Center, which opened for full operation in January 2011, achieved Silver certification from LEED® based on numerous design and construction features that benefit the building itself as well as the surrounding environment and community.

Quotes:
“We take great pride in having been a part of this project,” said Fields. “This Center will help countless individuals in North Carolina, and it is an honor to have our design recognized for LEED® certification. Through the use of sustainable design features, UNC Hospitals will be able to better meet the needs of current and future patients.”
