iGavel Auctions associate seller Nye & Company’s auction is now live on www.iGavelAuctions.com through August 17th. The sale includes Fine Art, an assortment of silver, jewelry, furniture, Chinese and collections from local families and estates.

New York, NY, August 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Highlights of this auction include a private collection from the 18th century, an antique room size Kirman carpet and large Serapi carpets, paintings, jewelry, smalls from a New Jersey estate, museum deaccessions, Regina music boxes, P.E. Geurin hinges, and jewelry from various owners and estates.

An unsigned oil on canvas depicting the mist rising majestically above the Great Falls of the Passaic is one of the choice pieces of Americana. The heirs of this estate also consigned a pair of portraits. Mr. David Williams and his wife, Susan Sutphen, who were married December 14, 1837. The home from which these were last acquired also had paintings by noted Philadelphia artist, Rembrandt Peale.

A pair of signed Richard Whittingham fireplace andirons, and a nice assortment of mirrors and rugs complement the furniture. A George II Style mahogany camelback sofa with elaborate petit-and gros-pointe upholstery is a highlight. Other important items in this sale include a Federal New England bowfront chest of drawers with original brass hardware, a Louis Vuitton trunk, a pair of Italian Baroque carved walnut hall chairs and a wonderful Louis XV Tulipwood and Kingwood ladies’ writing table. Rounding out the auction are porcelains by Royal Copenhagen, Lladro, Royal Dux, Capo di Monte. as well as carved ivories, portrait miniatures, glass, silver, watches and jewelry.

Nye & Company relocated to Montclair and Bloomfield, New Jersey making them more easily accessible from New York City. John and Kathleen Nye acquired Dawson’s after his long and fruitful Sothebys career.
