Providence, RI, August 16, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- New author, Octavio A. Melo, a resident of Rhode Island, released his first book titled, Consciousness Rising; Observations on the Human Experience and the Question of What Has Greatest Value.
Talk among local Oregonians wondered about a visitor in Yachats, a poetic solitary man named Octavio, musing and writing his manuscript in the quaint seaside town through a number of seasons. Today, back in Rhode Island, Octavio can say confidently, “ I am an author.”
Leaving family and career behind, Mr. Melo headed west to Oregon, the “land of dreamers,” to write his personal observations and questions common to all human experience. According to Melo, 'growth comes from doing the right thing,’ making decisions in a reality that mimics a tempestuous ocean, a never-ending storm of our own making.
Consciousness Rising refers to the big questions generating great debates that continue unabated to the present day. What is reality? What does it mean to be alive? What is our purpose and value? Does the life force continue beyond death? Why do we yearn for peace, compassion and freedom? Are we free?
Melo invites the reader to ask why are these questions we share as humanity so significant? Why do we care so intensely about these matters? He reflects upon human effort and sacrifices made to be greater than ‘being at the mercy of the winds’ to seek principles of love and peace that are beacons reminding each individual this world is uniquely your own.
The author, is not a philosopher, scientist nor a mystic and makes no claims of any expertise, other than, like all of us … having experienced some of life, and of course, some months embracing the beauty of the ocean and hospitality of Yachats, Oregon.
