Author Embraces Technology Through Skype Author Visits

Clearwater, FL, August 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Ginger Marks, author of Presentational Skills for the Next Generation, The ultimate guide for public speakers and those who want to be, joins a growing list of dedicated authors and illustrators in offering Skype Author Visits to students. Through Skype Author Visits, students worldwide have been able to meet, ask questions and learn from authors of books varying from the very young to the high school levels. Ms. Marks joins authors the caliber of real life adventurer, Peter Lourie, an author/presenter with an Indiana Jones persona; Barbara Mahler, author of The Hole in the Sky, who during Book Week 2011, which began January 23rd, joined two classes—grades 4 and 6—in Cairo, Egypt via Skype Author Visits; and author/illustrators such as Bruce Hale, who has authored and/or illustrated over 20 books and who presents to ages K-6 "From Reluctant Reader to Author," a presentation on the importance of following your dreams and what it takes to succeed in school and in life, alike are joining together to bring the world of publishing to our youth. The fee for a Skype Author Visits covers a wide range of budgets. These authors and illustrators offer a free 10 to 15 minute session and paid visit of $50 and up.

The mission of the Skype an Author Network is to provide K-12 teachers and librarians with a way to connect authors, books, and young readers through virtual visits. “Through this community we hope to instill a love of reading and writing in the next generation,” says Mrs. Marks. Skype Author Visits give teachers, media specialist and students the opportunity to invite authors into their classroom or library to video chat with students before, during, and/or after reading their books.
