Memoir of a Life Renewed: Twenty-Eight Snow Angels Published by Outskirts Press

Author and teacher Diane Dettmann writes candidly and poignantly of her experience rebuilding her life after the sudden death of her fifty-four year old husband and thus provides others with a similar loss a clearer perspective on their own grief.

Afton, MN, August 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Author Diane Dettmann announced today the release of Twenty-Eight Snow Angels: A Widow’s Story of Love, Loss and Renewal, published by Outskirts Press. Written with a clear, friendly narrative voice, Dettmann’s inspirational memoir gives hope to others that they too can build a meaningful life – alone or with a new mate – after a devastating loss.

Diane Dettmann was understandably grief stricken after the sudden death of her husband in 2000. She now felt she faced life alone, and struggled to get through simple everyday tasks while she continued to deal with the reality of her grief. She began to quietly develop a heroic resolve, though, to tackle these challenges and eventually she was able to succeed in rebuilding her life.

Veteran author Dettmann uses rich detail to captivate her readers and allow them to share the love of her husband, the loss of his unexpected passing and her own day by day self-inspired recovery. The inclusion of black and white photographs helps add a warm and personal touch to her narrative as do the many small moments of her life, vividly told, such as the selling of her cherished piano.

Life was not always happy for Diane through these years, but she laces her story with sparks of humor that make this a valuable and an enjoyable read for anyone who has suffered a loss or who works with, lives with or simply cares for another who is trying to rebuild their life.

“Writer Dettmann makes small events, like the sale of a beloved piano, become as momentous as the sale of a national treasure. In the process she rediscovers faith, community and love.”
- Susan Parker, author of Walking in the Deep End

“The reader is drawn in and captivated by Diane’s vivid account of her grief after the death of her loving husband…a powerful story of love, grief, hope and faith all can learn from.”
- Mary Jacks, licensed marriage and family therapist
