700-Foot Slip-and-Slide Draws Hundreds to Louisiana’s Cypress Bend Resort

Many, LA, August 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In what must be considered the most creative way to celebrate the end of summer, Louisiana’s Cypress Bend Resort converted a portion of its golf driving range into a 700-foot slip-and-slide for a one-day event, attracting hundreds of families to the resort just 70 miles south of Shreveport.

“Given the uniqueness of building a record-length slip-and-slide with an 80-foot descent on the driving range, I was quite anxious as to how the event would turn out,” said Kerry Bennett, general manager of Cypress Bend Resort. “Families began arriving two hours before the event started. You could literally feel the excitement in the air.”

With the assistance of professional irrigation engineers, Cypress Bend’s Golf Course Superintendent created a low-volume misting system to keep the slide slick while using a minimal amount of water.

At 12-feet wide, the highlight of the afternoon was the side-by-side waterslide racing competition with three separate age classes. Racing was extremely tight but four-year-old Jayden said it best after winning the semi-final round of her bracket, “Girls rule!”

After wrapping up a successful afternoon of slip-and-slide racing and family fun, the resort has already begun discussions for rolling out the Cypress Screamer 2012.
