UCR Extension Class to Investigate Photography in the Cloud

A one-of-a-kind photography hosting and publishing class taught by photographer Matthew Bamberg is being offered by UCR Extension Sept. 26 to Oct 28, 2011.

Palm Springs, CA, August 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- California photographer Matthew Bamberg, author of seven photography books, guides beginning photographers in learning to use cloud services such as Flickr, Carbonite and Picasa, to host and publish their photography in an online class offered this fall at the University of California Riverside Extension from Sept. 26-Oct 28, 2011.

Topics covered include photo resolution, cropping, saturation, portfolios, hosting, file types (including audio files) and sizes. “This Photography class is an opportunity for students to explore how to make all of their photos available online so that they can be accessed with any device—ipads, smart phones and laptops,” Bamberg explained.

He added, “The course presents information on a variety of photography topics to assist students in creating an online venue for their photographs, detailing the best and most affordable ways to manipulate, manage, share and publish new and existing images.”

The class will inform students on the best ways to ensure that photos remain at high resolution accessible for at least a generation. They will also learn to identify the best images of their collection for storing, sharing and publishing using microstock and stock industry standards as a guide.

Bamberg sees photography storage and hosting as a method to record history and family activities of this and past generations. Also, by taking advantage of state-of-the-art Internet “Cloud” technology, students have an excellent opportunity to share their photographic vision to a large audience now and in the future.

Bamberg’s last book, New Image Frontiers—Defining the Future of Photography was listed as a best photography selling book on Amazon.com for several weeks. He has taught The History of Fine Art Photography for UCR-Extension and Cal State-Extension. He has a Masters in Creative Arts from San Francisco State University.
