Touchtown Releases New Free Feature to Automate the Management of Customers’ Facebook Pages
Touchtown Inc. announces its release of a free Facebook app that posts customer content onto Facebook pages automatically. In conjunction with this release, Touchtown is offering a free webinar called "New Faces from Facebook" on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. The webinar is geared toward the senior living industry and will teach attendees how to get the most marketing value from social media.

Social Media in Senior Living Marketing
In the senior living industry, where Touchtown is a dominant player, social media is still a largely untapped marketing resource. A 2011 survey by Touchtown of 263 senior living customers found that only 32% of senior living communities currently have Facebook pages, while 13% are planning to create one and 55% have no plans to create one.
Unfortunately, the path to Facebook failure is paved with good intentions, as organizations often create Facebook pages but then fail to maintain them. Touchtown’s new Facebook app is intended to solve that problem. Senior living communities already use Touchtown every day to publicize their activities, announcements and dining menus, and this information can now be posted automatically to the community’s Facebook pages by simply checking a “Post to Facebook” box in the Touchtown content manager. The result: every resident, family member and prospect who follows that page gets notified whenever a new event is posted.
Social media usage increasing among seniors and boomers – a recent study from Pew Internet reported that between April 2009 and May 2010, social networking site usage increased 88% among internet users aged 55‐64, and increased 100% among internet users aged 65+ – and Facebook is rapidly
becoming a powerful yet inexpensive way for senior living communities to stay connected with prospects, residents and families.
Social Media in Pediatrics Marketing
In pediatrics, innovative practices also are looking for ways to keep families informed about important medical updates and tell them about programs offered by the practice.
