)-- playence, today announces the opening of its new commercial office in London and its Labs in Madrid, the first part of a multi-phase plan to expand globally. An official grand opening of the new UK and Spain offices is planned for October.
The London office
The commercial expansion of playence’s activities into the UK, one of Europe’s most vibrant technology and business hubs, is seen as an important strategic move for the firm. It will provide direct and indirect sales of the company’s products and services in the UK.
“UK was the logical first step in this global expansion,” said Sinuhe Arroyo, founder and CEO of playence, “because the United Kingdom is one of the leading economies and the rate of technological adoption and change is among the fastest in Europe.”
The company is currently working on several strategic partnerships and alliances with local resellers and established players, aimed at offering playence’s customers better access to the company’s solutions and greatly increased levels of service and support.
“We have wanted to strengthen our presence in the UK for some time, as the market potential for our solutions there is significant,” said Enrique Placed, VP Sales & Marketing, “Establishing an office staffed with playence-trained personnel will give us a direct access to the market and our customers there, enabling us to better serve their needs.”
The Madrid Lab
The Labs, in Madrid, Spain, will boost the research and innovation output of the company in the coming years. They have been conceived with a very applied focus in mind and to speed the commercialization of technology as much as possible. The final goal being to provide a better and faster response to customers’ needs at a global scale.
The new Madrid Lab is led by Semantic Technology expert José Manuel López-Cobo. López-Cobo is a partner at playence and poses ample expertise in applied research, especially in the field of Semantic Technology and multimedia search. López-Cobo has participated in and led several research projects at an international level and poses a solid publication track record.

playence is planning a significant direct investment in Spain in order to increase the technological edge of the company. The facilities, located in the new financial district Cuatro Torres Business Area, will be staffed predominantly by students, researchers and professors from local universities.
