Wayne, PA, April 12, 2007 --(PR.com
)-- Chairman and CEO, Jim Walker of Octagon Research Solutions, Inc., a pioneer and leader in the electronic transformation of clinical R&D in the life sciences industry, today announced that the company has acquired Ninaza, an electronic data capture technology company, based in San Mateo, California.
Ninaza’s electronic data capture technology has been used by numerous pharmaceutical and contract research organizations in Phase I-IV clinical trials and will now be integrated into Octagon’s product suite to provide full “collection-to-submission” electronic capabilities. The newly branded, ViewPoint® FUSE technology solution will allow for process efficiency throughout the clinical data lifecycle by automating the collection of electronic clinical data in concert with process facilitation and visibility.
“The acquisition of a proven electronic data capture technology completes a critical aspect of our vision,” stated Jim Walker, chairman and CEO. “We are working hard to provide transparent, cross-functional technologies and processes that facilitate the efficient management of electronic clinical data across the enterprise. In the coming months, Octagon will be unveiling a suite of packages originating from the ViewPoint platform that will enable clinical data management (CDM) and clinical trial management (CTM) capabilities. Providing CTM, CDM, EDC, and eSUB functionality will enable quality, cost and time improvements in the clinical research and development process. Most vendors are talking about end-to-end solutions within the functionally isolated market that they address. Octagon is the first company to address the process problem in clinical research and development by offering an end-to-end solution that crosses traditional functional boundaries. We are going beyond the point solution mentality which is where true cost and time savings can be brought to bear.”
The web-based electronic data capture technology offers complete data entry and validation as well as export of electronic clinical data according to the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium’s ODM (Operational Data Model) structure.
Jim Walker, chairman and CEO added, “This technology acquisition combined with our current portfolio of services and products enables us to bring to market the industry’s first complete electronic “collection-to-submission” offering that combines optimized electronic processes, industry standards, practical experience and ground breaking technology. This combination provides a significant market barrier to our competitors and offers a strong competitive advantage to our valued customers.”
