Animal Rescue Groups from California to Canada Win in Shelter+ Challenge Round 3

In the third round of voting in The Animal Rescue Site’s $300,000 Shelter+ Challenge with Petfinder.com, The Cat House on the Kings in Parlier, CA, won the $5,000 Grand Prize. Sasha’s Den in Quebec and Speaking of Dogs Rescue in Ontario were the first Canadian weekly winners in the Challenge.

Seattle, WA, September 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In the third round of voting of The Animal Rescue Site’s $300,000 Shelter+ Challenge with Petfinder.com, The Cat House on the Kings in Parlier, CA, won the $5,000 Grand Prize. Other winning shelters and rescue groups received 68 grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 for regional awards, photos submitted by Facebook fans, and other categories in this voting round.

At the end of the Challenge, several Canadian groups jumped into the fray. Sasha’s Den in Quebec and Speaking of Dogs Rescue in Ontario were the first Canadian groups to become “weekly winners” for racking up the most votes in a seven day period.

With these awards, $225,000 in grants has been distributed to Challenge winners in 2011. A final $75,000 remains to be decided by visitors to the GreaterGood Network’s The Animal Rescue Site. Voting for the fourth and final round of the 2011 $300,000 Shelter+ Challenge begins October 3.

The popular Challenge grants allow visitors to help their hometown rescue by clicking at The Animal Rescue Site. Each day during a voting periods, people can cast votes online for their favorite organization. Anyone can click and vote daily during the Challenge - it is free to participate and only takes a minute. No registration or other information is required to vote.

The Shelter+ Challenge began in 2008 and, as of December 2011, more than $900,000 in grants to winners will have been distributed to approximately 300 shelters and rescue groups in the Petfinder.com Network.
