Birkel Electric Becomes the First Electrical Contractor in the St. Louis Area to Go Solar

Birkel Electric announces the completion of a 10 kW Grid Interactive Photovoltaic System that has been installed on the roof of their office headquarters at 652 Trade Center Avenue in Chesterfield, MO.

Chesterfield, MO, September 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The installation is comprised of 44 panels set and ballasted with concrete blocks onto to a flat commercial roof. The grid-tie functionality of the system allows any/all excess electric production to be fed back into the grid with a multi-directional meter from AmerenUE. The system will provide over 12,600 kWh of power annually servicing both Birkels corporate office and warehouse. In addition, over the 25- year warranty of the panels, 216 tons of greenhouse gas emission (CO2) will be kept out of the atmosphere, equivalent to driving a small car over 731,000 miles or the planting of over 8,600 trees.
