The Olde Bell develops its sustainable food concept with new kitchen garden

Great Hotels of the World member The Olde Bell has been perfecting its food concept at the hotel since Warren Geraghty and Jason Farr joined the hotel in late 2010. But as the hotel has entered the second half of 2011, they are closer than ever to becoming a more self-sufficient property. Under an ancient brick archway at the back of the hotel and past a series of high walls is The Olde Bell’s new kitchen garden, courtesy of Head Gardener Mandy Hill. Currently meeting 30% of the inn’s fruit, herb and vegetable demand, the hotel hopes to reach 50% self-sufficiency by summer 2012. Chefs are in the garden chopping and pulling produce from the ground throughout the day, working with Mandy Hill to grow the ideal produce for The Olde Bell’s constantly changing menu.
