PEPID Delivers U.S. National Drug Code Database

Largest drug data provider now delivers all FDA-approved medications

Phoenix, AZ, September 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- PEPID, the leading provider of developer drug data and clinical decision support information and technology for healthcare systems and professionals, today announced it will now deliver the United States National Drug Code (NDC) database to health IT systems.

“PEPID is established as the most robust drug information provider, and we’ve supported the use of National Drug Codes through our medication vocabulary cross mapping system for years. Now, EMR, eMAR and EHR systems can rely on PEPID to deliver one of the healthcare industry’s most trusted sources of drug information,” says John Wagner, PEPID president. “I’m proud to add this extensive drug list to our list of supported drug databases, as we continue to offer the full spectrum of clinical decision support and drug data through the PEPID Knowledge Base.”

The PEPID National Drug Code (NDC) database contains all the medications currently approved by the FDA, including prescription, over-the-counter (OTC) and homeopathic medications. The database covers approximately 200,000 unique NDCs. This is in addition PEPID’s drug information monographs, drug interaction checker, drug-allergy checker, dosing calculators and medication vocabulary cross mapping already available - solidifying the company’s position as the largest and most authoritative drug database on the market.

“PEPID's National Drug Code database allows EHR, ePrescribe, CPOE and eMAR system providers to use NDC as the basis of their system. This, combined with PEPID’s extensive integration technologies, allows systems to provide the most trusted and authoritative drug information to clinicians,” says Edward Reynolds, PEPID chief technology officer. “In addition, our drug modules can be integrated to create automatic alerts for drug-drug interactions drug-allergy interactions, and over- or under-dosing alerts to build smarter systems.”

PEPID's reputable clinical and pharmacological content is designed to support clinicians through every stage of the decision support process, increasing safety and accuracy through better-informed patient care, and this latest module adds to the robust content and tools available, and helps to meet meaningful use criteria in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
