The team, comprised of renown experts with vast experience in the North Carolina travel and hospitality arena, includes SMITH Advertising, a fully integrated advertising and marketing agency headquartered in Fayetteville; The Management Office headquartered in Charlotte, a management services company for nine associations, many of which are travel related and Dr. Dana Clark, hospitality and tourism consultant and professor of the Management Department, John A. Walker College of Business, Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.

Work on the project began September 1, 2011, and will continue through February 2012. SMITH Advertising will assemble the results of the research and qualitative findings to create a master plan of strategies that will address key issues and design initiatives to execute these strategies over the next 10 years, including directly funded initiatives and opportunities for private investment.

On behalf of the group, Gary Smith, President and CEO of SMITH Advertising, said, “We have assembled an A-team of veteran tourism marketing and development experts offering perspective from inside some of the most successful destination campaigns in America. We are dedicated to provide a 10-year master plan that will establish short-term and long-term goals and objectives that will result in consistent growth for Salisbury-Rowan County, NC.”
