NovaStor Brings Bare Metal Recovery to the Enterprise Level

NovaBACKUP DataCenter now supports the creation and storage of images in a network and on popular storage devices, and allows for the restoration of physical machines as virtual machines and vice versa.

Agoura Hills, CA, October 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Data protection specialist NovaStor has developed a new Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) function for its enterprise solution, NovaBACKUP DataCenter. The new feature offers maximum flexibility in choosing where to store images, as well as choosing in what environment to restore a system.

BMR with Full Network Support
Only offering disk storage for disaster recovery in corporate environments is not sufficient, therefore, NovaStor is launching its enterprise solution with a new Bare Metal Recovery function based on the Windows PE environment.

The new BMR function enables IT administrators to choose the location in which an image will be stored. In addition to the network, storage devices such as magnetic tape, hard disk or staging models such as D2D2Any (Disk-to-Disk-to-Any) can also be chosen as the storage device. Systems which need to be restored can be booted from a CD or USB media drive. With the new BMR functionality, recovery from the network will now also be possible.

Flexible Choice of Virtual and/or Physical Recovery Environments
Taking into account the advantages of virtual systems, the new BMR functionality allows for virtual to physical (V2P) and physical to virtual (P2V) restoration. Virtual systems can be restored on any hardware, and systems formerly run on a physical computer can be restored to any virtual environment. With the new BMR function, NovaBACKUP DataCenter increases data availability, reduces recovery window times, and also supports the rapid virtualization of systems that have been operated inefficiently before.

"The failure of an entire system is one of the most complex recovery scenarios a business can face. Bare Metal Recovery provides NovaBACKUP DataCenter customers with more leeway to get failed systems back up and operating much faster and with less effort," says Stefan Utzinger, CEO of NovaStor.

Availability
The new BMR functionality will be part of NovaBACKUP DataCenter version 4.7 announced for release at the end of this year. Versions 4.0 and newer can be equipped with the BMR function upon request.
