Free Educational Symposium on Cancers Significant to Women

Fort Myers, FL, October 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- "Powerful Women, Powerful Choices" is a complimentary seminar being offered by 21st Century Oncology, Lee Memorial Health System and Naples Community Hospital. The seminar will be held Saturday, October 15, from 9:00 A.M. to 12 Noon, at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, in Estero. Knowledge is power. With cancer affecting more than one-third of all women, knowing what to look for and where to go for answers is a key component to preemptive health care.

This educational symposium will focus on cancers significant to women, early detection, screening, treatment and therapy, and genetics. The day begins with a keynote address on The Importance of Specialized Care by James Orr, M.D. The next three sessions focus on breast cancer, beginning with Mammography - Who, How and When by Theresa Vensel, M.D. Rie Aihara, M.D. follows with a talk on Breast Cancer – What You Should Know, then Teri Hansen makes it personal, recounting her own experiences in Lessons Learned as a Breast Cancer Survivor.

Amy Fox, M.D. presents a session on What’s New in Radiation Therapy and Fadi Abu Shahin, M.D. discusses Abnormal Pap Smears – Proper Evaluation and Management. There’s also a brief discussion of Genetics – What You Need to Know, featuring Cindy Merrill and Fadi Abu Shahin. If there are still questions following this morning packed with information, they should be answered during the freeform Q & A session, What You’ve Always Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask.

Entertainment breaks during the seminar feature the Creative Theatre Workshop, Dance Warehouse performing Broadway Baby and a Fashion Show by White House Black Market.
