Classical Pianist Turn Jazz Vocalist Performing a CD Release Concert for New Sophomore CD

Atlanta-Based jazz vocalist Jessie Davis will be launching her sophomore CD Release “Him and I Gemini” at The Five Spot. Jessie’s latest CD project has attracted the some of Atlanta’s top up & coming jazz talent such as Grammy Winning keyboardist Phil Davis, Tyler Perry trumpeter Melvin Jones and Little John Roberts celebrity drummer from Janet Jackson to George Duke. “Him and I Gemini” with its all-star cast is a credit to Jessie’s long journey from classical pianist to respected jazz musician.

Atlanta, GA, October 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Atlanta-Based jazz vocalist Jessie Davis will be launching her sophomore CD Release “Him and I Gemini” during her one night only concert at The Five Spot in Little Five Points. Jessie’s latest CD project has attracted the some of Atlanta’s top up & coming jazz talent such as Grammy Winning keyboardist Phil Davis, Tyler Perry trumpeter Melvin Jones and Little John Roberts celebrity drummer for Janet Jackson, En Vogue and George Duke. “Him and I Gemini” with it’s all-star cast is a credit to Jessie’s long journey from classical pianist to respected jazz musician.

Jessie Davis will be debuting her highly anticipated CD, “Him and I Gemini” at The Five Spot on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 9:30pm. The Five Spot is located at 1123 Euclid Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30307 in the Little Five Points neighborhood. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Jessie’s vocal style has been describe with comparisons to Norah Jones and Diana Crawl. This latest CD project has attracted the some of Atlanta’s top talent such as Grammy Winning keyboardist Phil Davis, Tyler Perry trumpeter Melvin Jones and Little John Roberts celebrity drummer for Janet Jackson, En Vogue and George Duke among others. The CD features six original tunes and 3 cover tunes one of which is an adaptation of the Nina Simon classic “Go to Hell” and another a Bessie Smith tune “Gin House Blues.” “Him and I Gemini is an album that was inspired by my life experience as well as love, particularly one relationship I had. It tells a love story that starts off sweet and mushy, but begins to fall apart and I hit rock bottom.”

Jessie is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah and began her musical career training as a classical pianist. Her studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston sparked her passion for jazz. It was there she meet international recording artist Vinx that invited her to tour with him along the East Coast at venues such as Blues Alley in DC, Center Stage Atlanta and the Gibson in NYC. Her work with Vinx led her to Atlanta where she has been based since 2007. Jessie has played extensively in the Atlanta scene performing at Fernbank’s Martinis & Imax, Churchill Grounds Jazz Cafe, National Black Arts Festival and even leading her own 16-piece big band called the Drive-by Big Band. In 2010, Jessie released her first solo EP, “Half Between Here and the Middle of Nowhere” which has been played on radio stations throughout the Southeast and Inter-mountain West.
