New York, NY, October 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Palace of Versailles Available on DVD Nov. 15.

Kultur is proud to announce the release of The Palace of Versailles available on DVD on November 15, 2011.

The Chateau of Versailles remains forever the emblematic symbol of Louis XIV, whose reign lasted for almost half a century. This new program presents a visually stunning tour of the many rooms and works of art inside of France's national treasure.

The Orangery at the Chateau of Versailles was designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in the 17th century. Hardouin-Mansart, considered a genius by architectural historians, is associated with the most grandiose achievements of the reign of Louis XIV. The first building he produced for the king was the Château du Val in the forest of Saint-Germain in 1674.

At Versailles, he designed the North and South wings, the Grand and Small Stables, the Orangery, the Grand Commun building and the Hall of Mirrors, recognized as one of the most beautiful works of art of the 17th century France. The most symbolic of the rooms is no doubt the Hall of Mirrors.

During the next century, under the reign of Louis XV, the Chapel Royal was the last building designed by Hardouin-Mansart, which was completed after his death.

The Chateau ceased to function as the seat of official power in 1789 with the French Revolution.
