Shriekfest is an international festival and screenplay competition that receives submissions from all over the world. It is a festival dedicated to getting horror/thriller/sci-fi/fantasy filmmakers and screenwriters the recognition they deserve. Back in 2001, Gossett had starred as Angela Travis in the film 'Chain of Souls' and was frustrated by the lack of venues to screen the film so she started Shriekfest. It was an immediate success and now the annual film festival includes screenings, lectures, a contest for best film as well as screenplay, and is an amazing networking venue (shriekfest.com). Moviemaker Magazine voted Shriekfest in the top 25 film festivals worth the entry fee, and Gossett has been voted number 5 out of the “13 Most Influential Women In Horror”.
