Fountain Quail Wins Prestigious Environmental Award

Buffalo, NY, October 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- IOGCC’s Stewardship Award recognizes excellence in oil and gas industry.

Fountain Quail earned its latest industry accolades when the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission presented its 2011 Chairman’s Stewardship Award to the company at its annual meeting in Buffalo on Monday. The IOGCC declared Fountain Quail the winner in the environmental partner category.

Fountain Quail Water Management LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Calgary-based Aqua-Pure Ventures, Inc. (AQE-TSXV), is the industry leader in recycling shale gas flowback and produced water into fresh water for re-use.

“We believe the company’s work in recycling shale gas wastewater is an outstanding example of what the Stewardship Award represents,” said Mike Smith, executive director of the IOGCC. “The continued growth and sustainability of shale gas drilling worldwide is inextricably tied to the industry’s approach to water management.”

Since its inception in 1935, the IOGCC has voiced the need for sound oil and natural gas environmental policy. In 1996, the organization initiated the annual Chairman's Stewardship Awards, which represent the Commission's highest honor for exemplary efforts in environmental stewardship. The awards recognize achievement and challenge organizations, companies and individuals nationwide to demonstrate innovation, dedication and passion for our environment.

“The Stewardship Award is a tremendous honor, and we are very proud to have been singled out by such a nationally respected organization of oil and gas producing states for this distinction,” said Brent Halldorson, chief operating officer of Fountain Quail. “We have been refining our wastewater treatment technology for several years in shale plays across the country, and we’re gratified to see it emerging as an industry best practice.”

Since 2004, Fountain Quail has developed and refined its patented, industry-leading technology for recycling flowback and produced water in North Texas’ Barnett Shale. During that time, the Company has recycled more than 800 million gallons of shale gas wastewater that would otherwise have been injected into disposal wells and permanently removed from the hydrological cycle. The company’s technology is also being utilized in the Marcellus and Eagle Ford Shales, and plans are underway to expand into additional shale plays across North America before year’s end.
