Dr. Naveed Fazlani Receives National Recognition from American Diabetes Association

Award Recognizes Excellence in Diabetes Care by Cincinnati, Ohio-based Dr. Naveed Fazlani.

Cincinnati, OH, October 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Naveed Fazlani, Physician of the Year 2004 Mercy Hospital Mt. Airy, has been once again recognized for his excellence in patient care by the Diabetes Recognition Program. The program, a joint effort between the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), is designed to ensure diabetes patients receive the best possible care.

Dr. Naveed Fazlani is Managing Partner of Midwest Medical Group in Cincinnati, a practice that has grown from two physicians to fourteen since Dr. Naveed Fazlani co-founded it in 2003. Along with cholesterol and blood pressure, diabetes mellitus is one of Dr. Naveed Fazlani's specialties.

According to Dr. Naveed Fazlani, diabetes mellitus is a serious health concern among Americans, with more than 25 million people in our country living with the disease. Dr. Naveed Fazlani cites diabetes mellitus statistics that estimate seven million cases of diabetes mellitus are undiagnosed. Dr. Naveed Fazlani and other physicians believe education and early detection are instrumental in saving lives.

The ADA and NCQA designate physicians who are superior in the field of diabetes care for this distinction, Dr. Naveed Fazlani's office reports. According to Dr. Naveed Fazlani, the program measures physicians in ten key areas, including nutrition therapy and patient satisfaction, in order to encourage improvement of diabetes care in the medical community.

"For a person with diabetes, the right clinician can make the difference between living with diabetes as opposed to suffering from diabetes," Dr. Richard M. Bergenstal, President of ADA's Medicine & Science Division, reports. "Clinicians who earn recognition through the Diabetes Recognition Program have an established track record of providing excellent diabetes care. The list of recognized clinicians is the first place to look if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with diabetes."

Dr. Naveed Fazlani explains that the list, a comprehensive guide to physicians nationwide who have been recognized as providing excellent diabetes care, is a useful tool for healthcare providers who can use it to refer diabetes mellitus patients. Dr. Naveed Fazlani points out that this designation is only for those who pass the ADA's set of standards.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Naveed Fazlani has received many accolades over his fifteen years in practice in the Cincinnati area. In 2005, Dr. Naveed Fazlani was chosen physician of the year by Mercy Hospital Mt. Airy medical staff and administration. During Dr. Naveed Fazlani's work as Associate Medical Director for Mercy Hospital Mt. Airy, he has seen the hospital experience significant growth.

According to Dr. Naveed Fazlani, the American Diabetes Association seeks to reduce deaths due to diabetes and diabetes-related illnesses through education, services, and research funding. Dr. Naveed Fazlani says the ADA aims to change the direction of those "suffering from" diabetes to "living with" diabetes, a fight Dr. Naveed Fazlani fully supports.
