Atlanta Hawks’ Damien Wilkins Hosts “Game Day” at the Hill Street Boys & Girls Club During NBA Lockout

Atlanta Hawks’ Damien Wilkins geared up for a different type of game day when he partnered with DTLR at the Hill Street Boys & Girl Club in Atlanta on October 18, 2011 for a day of fun and mentoring.

Atlanta, GA, October 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Game Day itinerary included a mentoring component, video and board game stations, photos and autographs. The interactive program gave participants a chance to hear the challenges Damien overcame to reach success, great tips on achieving academic goals, and leadership development. Celebrity barber Bobby Henderson was on hand for free haircuts and AmeriGroup provided child health information to parents and snacks for the club members.

"I can truly say that the Boys & Girls Club saved my life and helped me to reach my goals," says Damien. "I want to have the same impact on these young people that I received at my Boys & Girls Club in Washington, North Carolina. This Game Day was the perfect opportunity to do just that!"

The outstanding forward is known for his athletic ability and his family lineage, which includes marquee NBA players, but Damien has quietly and consistently been active in giving back to his community since the beginning of his career. He is heavily involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs initiatives and internationally with Save the Children.
