Oceanside, CA, October 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast entries already eclipse 2010 total. Only 150 online entries remain for November 5th event.

Entries for this year’s Bike The Coast – Taste The Coast, the unique cycling event, food festival, and sports expo set for Saturday, Nov. 5 in Oceanside, are being snapped up at a furious pace. So far, more than 1,200 participants have registered for the popular event, eclipsing the 2010 total.

“The response from the cycling community has been outstanding,” said event organizer Jim Curl of Event Media, Inc. “We have only 150 online entries left with the online deadline (Sunday, Oct. 30) fast approaching.”

This year’s event features a choice of five rides, followed by a food festival and sports expo at the Oceanside Pier. Added to this year’s lineup is a special “Movie Night at the Pier” on Friday, Nov. 4 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., featuring the first U.S. outdoor showing of the classic cycling movie “Hell On Wheels” at the bandshell next to the pier. “Movie Night at the Pier” is presented by Visit Oceanside Conference and Visitors Bureau.

“Hell On Wheels” is an 83-minute German documentary (with English subtitles) of the 2003 Tour de France that featured a stirring battle between American Lance Armstrong and German rider Jan Ulrich. It was the record tying 5th win for Armstrong as well as the 100th anniversary of the Tour. Admission to the movie is free and held in conjunction with the Bike The Coast – Taste the Coast packet pick-up, late registration, food fest and sports expo, which are open from noon until 8:00 p.m.

The Friday Night Beer Garden opens at 4:00 p.m. and goes until 8:00 p.m. and is presented by Oceanside Ale Works and Michelob Ultra. Seating is “Open” in both the bleachers and floor section. Comfortable low back beach chairs and blankets are recommended. Food booths are provided through MainStreet Oceanside, producers of the well-loved weekly “Sunset Market” and the projection and sound are courtesy of Hollywood Outdoor Movies.
