AES's ASTech Gives Superpowers to Small Repair Shops

Automotive Electronic Solutions (AES) has changed the way auto repair shops will handle computer repairs. Their new product, the ASTech, gives small shops remote access to expensive on-board computer interaction equipment previously only available to dealerships.

Jacksonville, FL, October 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Automotive Electronic Solutions (AES) has introduced its new product, the ASTech, at the ASRW/NACE/CARS 2012 trade show. The ASTech is a piece of equipment that allows automotive body and repair shops to inexpensively perform electronic maintenance on any brand of vehicle without the car leaving their property.

The automotive world is increasingly relying on computers for functionality in vehicles. This means that computers are also necessary in automotive repair. Things like power windows and air conditioning, as well as newer features like heated seats and in-dash navigation systems are all closely connected with the on-board computer.

Unfortunately, most brands have their own proprietary software. The equipment required to work on a brand’s computer problems can cost over $100,000 and have yearly subscription costs of $30,000. The ASTech acts as a bridge to remote equipment housed at an AES centralized command center. This remote equipment is the same equipment used by dealerships and can allow even the smallest repair shops to solve any computer problem that a dealership can.

“This is a radical new approach to a well documented problem in the industry. Before, you would have to tow the car to a dealership, let them work on it, then send over two of your employees to go drive it back to your shop. That’s a lot of extra liability that this device completely eliminates,” said Walter McIntyre, Chief Operations Officer of AES. “Now the car doesn’t even have to leave your store.”

The benefits of the ASTech stem from lowered liability and increased control, as well as the ability to work on practically any brand of automobile. By keeping the car on shop property, mechanics retain greater control over the services performed. There is no need to contract with dealers and hope that they are able to work on it in a timely manner. This creates a savings in time and cost for the shop.

The ASTech is the result of collaboration between AES and the engineering & product development firm Paragon Innovations, Inc. Paragon Innovations specializes in designing cutting edge technology like the ASTech.
