Sarah Thornton Named Public Relations Principal of the Year

Las Vegas, NV, October 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Las Vegas-based firm receives prestigious award at the 23rd Annual Electronic Media Awards.

Sarah Thornton, founder and President of Sarah Thornton Public Relations, was named Public Relations Principal of the Year at the 23rd annual Electronic Media Awards. Thornton was recognized for her accomplishments at the event, held October 21, 2011 at the Eastside Cannery Hotel and Casino. The Electronic Media Awards recognizes outstanding achievements in locally produced communications.

A 16-year veteran of the Las Vegas public relations and marketing industry, Thornton has represented a variety of clients both locally and nationally. Her work in media relations has garnered millions of dollars worth of earned news placements for her clients.

She founded her firm in 2007 and has since grown the company to include three additional professionals working on her clients’ behalf. Sarah Thornton Public Relations represent a variety of clients in industries including law, renewable energy, medicine, real estate, retail, financial services, non-profit, public affairs and entertainment.

Thornton serves as Las Vegas Valley Chapter President of the Public Relations Society of America and volunteers with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Southern Nevada chapter as well as the Community Service Committee for the Clark County Bar Association. Thornton is past chapter president and past regional board member of the International Association of Business Communicators’ (IABC) Las Vegas chapter.

Thornton is a previous EMA recipient of the “Account Executive of the Year” award and has been recognized by both PRSA and IABC Las Vegas for her work.

The Electronic Media Awards were founded in 1988 and are held in conjunction with The Nevada Broadcasters Association. The awards program is a forum for recognizing the best of the best in Las Vegas, recognizing outstanding achievements in local radio, television and website. The EMA awards and silent auction raise money for student scholarships. Proceeds are distributed by The Nevada Broadcasters Foundation under The Electronic Media Awards Scholarship program.
