B.D. Gullett Students Benefit Indoors and Outdoors Thanks to Gifts from Neal Communities and Other Businesses

Neal Communities and other local businesses partner up to fundraise for Gullett Elementary School.

Bradenton, FL, October 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Neal Communities was a lead sponsor of the Third Annual B.D. Gullett Golf Challenge, held at University Park Country Club. Neal contributed $7,800. The event, organized by the school’s PTO, raised $36,705, which beat their goal of $30,000. The Challenge included 110 golfers and also featured a variety of raffles and prizes donated by various businesses. The money will be used to purchase a portable computer cart with 20 laptops and classroom resources, as well as to fund field trips. Neal Communities contributed $2,800 specifically to purchase the site license for the Accelerated Reader program.

“We are proud to participate in events such as this and to continue to support our schools,” said Neal Communities’ President, Pat Neal. “The Accelerated Reading program is particularly significant. Gullett students score well on FCAT reading, and this will help ensure they maintain that position. Reading is essential for every student.”

In addition to the money raised from the Golf Challenge, Neal Communities also donated $5,000 for SunShades on the playgrounds. An additional $5,000 was donated by a parent group who wishes to be anonymous. Proceeds from the after-school care program (Gator Care) supplied the remaining $7,500. These structures help protect students from the sun and keep the equipment cooler to the touch.

“Gullett Elementary is privileged to be a part of Neal Communities’ Central Park neighborhood. Neal Communities has been an ally of B.D. Gullett since we opened our doors five years ago,” explained Principal Kathy Hayes. “With the support of this vital business partnership, we have been able to make great advances in our goal to provide 1:1 classroom laptops in our intermediate classrooms as well as supplementing classroom resources for hands-on learning. Neal Communities exemplifies the fact that strong business and community support are the backbone of outstanding schools.”

“The parents love this school,” said PTO President, Jan Timney. “With parents, school administrators and businesses joining forces, we have an unbeatable team.”
