)-- Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, recently secured 4G device deals with major operators, Aria and Max Telecom, rapidly expanding its presence in Europe over the past one year.
Today, Greenpacket’s 4G WiMAX devices are deployed in one in three EU countries including CIS. The company’s 4G WiMAX devices have an overall presence in fast growing EU markets; gaining recognition and positive traction in countries like Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain. Greenpacket’s sales shipment grew 4-fold last year, a significant increase since the company entered the market in 2009.
Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket Berhad said, "Our consecutive wins in the region prove that operators have confidence in our products. We see 4G WiMAX playing a significant role especially in Eastern Europe. The technology is well-suited as the most cost effective fixed-DSL replacement for rural connectivity; serving areas where wireline broadband is unavailable and 3G wireless broadband is limited and of low-quality."
Globally, Europe has the highest Broadband and Internet penetration. Still, the region’s broadband market has seen a considerable evolution during the last year. With digital divides between rural and urban areas and huge gaps in economic stature between EU countries, there are vast potentials for further growth. The EU has taken extreme measures in pushing for broadband coverage with an aim to provide broadband to all rural Europeans by 2013.
Lee expressed confidence that 4G WiMAX is set for a new wave of growth in the fast developing and underserved EU regions. He added “We are committed to the European market, and will continue to build relationships and evolve our products to suite the specific needs of our EU clients and the EU market at large.”
Greenpacket is currently deploying to operators such as Clearwire, Zapp, MVM and 2K Telecom. The company is actively engaging other major 4G WiMAX operators and with their partners they continue to gain brand and performance recognition.
