Oak Ridge Product Development Company Receives International Recognition for New Product Innovation

Protomet Corporation received a 2011 International Boatbuilders Exhibition (IBEX) Innovation Award for the design and manufacture of the new VIEW4RCE VR-140 Panoramic Boat Mirror.

Oak Ridge, TN, October 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Protomet, an Oak Ridge-based technology company, is now offering its customers a unique boating experience. The VR-140 panoramic boat mirror provides unparalleled clarity and a range of view previously not available to the boating community. For the first time ever, a boat driver can follow a wake boarder or skier from port to starboard inside of one continuous high resolution mirror.

The introduction of this product is a natural extension of Protomet’s high end products currently being developed for the marine industry. Protomet currently manufactures numerous precision machined components for the high performance boat manufacturers in the ski and wake board boat industry.

“Having a second set of eyes on your kids while towing them in any variety of watersports is inherent parental responsibility,” noted IBEX judge Alan Wendt. “Protomet’s prescription grade optics provides unparalleled viewable range.”

“It is very rewarding when a new product is received with such positive feedback,” said Jeff Bohanan, president, Protomet. “We developed the mirror to meet the demanding needs of the high end and high performance boating market. The IBEX judges and others note the increased safety that the mirror brings to the broader market. The judges told us that they’ve never seen anything like this…not even close. We can run with that kind of endorsement.”

Speaking of endorsements, a few weeks ago, nationally known professional boat driver Travis Moye had a chance to test drive this mirror at the King of Wake Pro Tour finals… “From the first minute I used the new mirror, I was converted. It opens up a new world of sight from the driver’s seat. Before now, I have been using two mirrors to eliminate blind spots, but both mirrors do not compare to one VIEW4RCE VR-140.”

The mirror is available in a premium billet machined housing as well as a price point plastic injection molded housing. Both housings contain the same prescription grade optics lens. The new mirror is being marketed through the PTM Edge marine division of Protomet. For more information regarding the mirror or any other Protomet products, please call 865.426.0600.
