Arrested, convicted, sentenced to death and innocent! Through plot twisting dialogue and intense lyrics, "Freedom" takes audience members through this unfortunate dilemma faced by too many economically disadvantaged people in America. "Freedom" addresses a relevant social injustice while making theatre more appealing to a wider audience.

The Exonerated played at the 45 Bleecker Theater and toured nationally. Blake also co-produced the Obie Award winning play In The Continuum that played at the Perry Street Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe Theatre and toured both nationally and internationally. Other Blake productions include Play Dead at the Player’s Theatre, Noah’s Archive at the Ohio Theatre, Joe Fearless at the Atlantic Theatre, American Girls at the 45th Street Theatre, The Soap Myth at the South Street Seaport Theatre, Dirty Works at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Once A Man Twice A Boy at the Irish Arts Center.

Blake was also involved with writing First Date that played at the New York Performance Works Theatre and the South Street Seaport Theatre, The Press Release at the San Francisco Playwright’s Center and the Sheherezade Festival, E.V. at the New York Performance Works, The Reading and A Raven Prepares both at the Metropolitan Playhouse.

CHI-ILL, the C.E.O. of Torture Chamber Inc. and future hip-hop legend from Chicago wrote the original lyrics and with the assistance of DJ O-Zone and 3-60 Tha Mack, two hometown producers, composed the original music for Freedom. CHI-ILL has toured as an opening act for D.M.X. and in the past collaborated with hip-hop icons such as Kool G Rap and multi-platinum producer Dame Grease. In 2010, CHI-ILL and DJ O-Zone digitally released The Last Chance Lounge which is currently available for purchase on i-Tunes and CHI-ILL launched his official website www.CHI-ILL.com.

Blake asserts that “every musical form has been used by theater to tell stories except hip-hop. It's past time for this to happen.” The creative team is currently negotiating with producers and anticipates a regional production in the near future.
