Baxa Corporation Features Pharmacy Automation and Dedicated Oral Dispensers at the Interphex 2007 Exhibition

Baxa Corporation is promoting its industry-leading products for automating pharmacy filling operations and safe dispensing of oral liquid medications at the annual Interphex Conference and Exhibition beginning today at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. The annual Interphex Conference brings together global companies serving the pharmaceutical and biotechnical industries.

Denver, CO, April 24, 2007 --(PR.com)-- At the 28th annual Interphex Conference and Exhibition, Baxa Corporation is demonstrating its pharmacy automation systems – the Repeater™ Pump and the Rapid-Fill™ Automated Syringe Filler (ASF). Designed to improve pharmacy efficiency and reduce the opportunity for contamination, these automated filling devices are the market leaders for hospital pharmacy operations. In addition, Baxa is displaying its full line of safety dispensers that prevent misconnection errors in the administration of non-intravenous solutions.

Baxa Corporation is the leading provider of solutions for improving pharmacy filling efficiency and promoting safe administration. Now these devices are available to pharmaceutical manufacturers and other industry professionals to improve their operational efficiencies and add value to product packaging. The OEM division at Baxa specifically addresses the needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers and drug repackagers, offering added value to packaged pharmaceuticals as part of a complete drug delivery system.

“Baxa comes to Interphex to find business partners,” states Joyce Federer, Director of OEM Sales, “Our goal is to find other manufacturers that need to enhance their product value, improve their drug delivery or develop specialized products to meet unique needs.” The annual Interphex Conference, April 24 – 26 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York, brings together global companies serving the pharmaceutical and biotechnical industries. This year’s exhibition is paired for the first time with the PharmaMedDevice™ Meeting – the only event that focuses on the needs of the emerging combination drugs market. Combination drugs combine device technology with innovative medications to provide solutions for ensuring the best dosing regimens and the safest drug deliveries.

The Baxa Repeater Pump and Rapid-Fill ASF devices provide repeatable accuracy for sterile and non-sterile drug reconstitution and filling applications. Combining delivery speed with accuracy and motor strength, the Baxa pumps increase labor efficiency for batch production, reduce the opportunity for touch contamination and eliminate the potential for medication errors.

Exacta-Med Dispensers provide safe oral and enteral medication delivery by eliminating the risk of wrong-route administration. The system’s non-luer components cannot actuate a needleless valve or connect to a hypodermic needle or fitting. Oral dispensers are recommended by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) to reduce the opportunity for med errors.

Founded in 1975, Baxa Corporation built its reputation by designing niche products that provide solutions for the transfer, delivery, packaging and administration of fluid medications in hospital pharmacy and alternate-site settings worldwide. The company is certified to the quality standards for ISO 13485 and EN46001.
