Membrana GmbH Introduces Liqui-Flux® W10 Ultrafiltration Module

Industry leader in membrane development Membrana GmbH releases new module design featuring the innovative Variable Connect Concept – VCCTM: Liqui-Flux® W10 Ultrafiltration Module.

Charlotte, SC, November 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Membrana GmbH, a leading membrane and membrane device manufacturer, is pleased to announce the introduction of the Liqui-Flux® W10 Ultrafiltration Module that utilizes the proven UltraPES TM polyethersulfone membrane for inside-out operation. With 75m2 of membrane area, this new module design is both functional and durable and also features the innovative Variable Connect Concept - VCCTM.

The introduction of the VCCTM into the Liqui-Flux® W10 Ultrafiltration Module allows system integrators to select from a variety of connection options to accommodate for the many space limitations and different water qualities faced in the field. Configurations include:

The Standard Setup which features a radial feed inlet port and axial concentrate port. This configuration is ideal for treating a broad range of feedwater qualities.

The Compact Setup uses two radial ports and is only 1.5m in height. This configuration is well-suited for installation in areas with height limitations.

The Optimized Footprint Setup utilizes an axial feed port that reduces the space between modules, thereby reducing the overall system footprint. By using this configuration a 4.75 m2 module skid with 2100 m2 membrane area can be built.

The flexibility of being able to choose a configuration that meets specific on-site needs allows system engineers to build more cost-effective systems with a smaller footprint.

All configurations can operate in dead-end mode. The Standard Setup and Compact Setup can operate in cross-flow mode. Additionally, a second filtrate port can be added and end caps are designed with flat, rectangular surfaces to allow for easy mounting and connecting to other modules. Ports are available in 73 mm, 75 mm and 76 mm sizes to meet regional dimension requirements.

The Liqui-Flux® W10 Ultrafiltration Module uses the proven, 3-layer UltraPES TM capillary membrane for superior permeability and mechanical strength. Using proprietary Multifiber P.E.T.® Technology, hollow fibers are entwined with a spacer yarn that provides additional membrane stability. These multifiber strands are encased in 9 rigid polypropylene bundles that are positioned in an advantageous hydrodynamic arrangement inside the PVC vessel. This arrangement forms a narrowing annular gap, ensuring even pressure distribution during backwash.
