DAMN Digital Studio Gears Up to Meet the SXSW Interactive Award Deadline

Brooklyn, NY, November 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- DAMN Digital Studio, an interactive agency based in Dumbo, Brooklyn, New York's Digital District, is in high gear as it prepares to meet the deadline for the 2012 SXSW Interactive Awards. As one of the most prestigious awards within the industry, DAMN Digital is excited to submit some of its most recent work for recognition at SXSW.

DAMN Digital, which was launched almost one-year ago by co-founders Danii Oliver and Kevin Braithwaite, helps digitize brands by designing and developing for emerging technology platforms in the digital space. With less than a week away to the November 18 deadline, the team is pulling all-nighters and working throughout the weekend, not only to meet the SXSW awards deadline, but also to continue to crank out client work.

Several digital projects the DAMN Digital team has produced this year include two interactive children’s books. The interactive books will focus on engaging children in the digital space, not by just having them stare at a screen, but also involving them within the book’s storyline. In order to complete the book, users will have to navigate through a plot or complete a challenge. The books will be available for tablets, such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Motorola Zoom, which run on Google’s Android OS. The team hopes to develop an iPad version after the announcement of the SXSW award winners.

The first interactive book, made its first appearance at Trade Brooklyn, a recent trade show that brought together businesses from the Brooklyn community. The second interactive book (http://nickversus.com) is in its final stages and will feature a series of stories about the challenges and adventures of growing up and figuring out life on your own. The books feature games, puzzles, animations, cut scene videos, audio, read along and sound effects, and is touch sensitive. The books are highly interactive and engaging for children of all ages.

“We’re working hard to meet the deadline for the SXSW Interactive Awards because we know that’s where the majority of digital brands and products receive their start,” said Oliver, co-founder and chief digital officer, DAMN Digital. “For instance, once Angry Birds made its debut at SXSW, it capitulated into success within a year or less.”

“SXSW is THE interactive festival,” says Braithwaite, co-founder and managing director, DAMN Digital. “If we can’t convince the judges that we’ve got a great digital interactive product, then we might need to revisit the drawing board. But we are confident in our ability to create awesome digital products.”
