Portland, ME, April 26, 2007 --(PR.com
)-- Alabaster Book Publishing announces the release of Joanne Clarey's psychological thriller, Skinned, available May 1, 2007. Skinned is the sequel to Twisted Truth, in the Dr. Christie McMorrow Thriller series.
In Skinned, Clarey depicts how human traffickers lure, abduct, buy and steal young girls from eastern Europe and smuggle them to Canada and then through customs to Maine, USA. There they force the girls into prostitution and baby-breeding, two of the highest paying categories for the slave trade the human traffickers operate.
Although the novel is fiction, Writer's Digest says "Clarey's utilizes her research and background as a psychotherapist to present realistic interpretations... and an outstanding job of presenting a portrait of a sadistic killer without all the cliches and sterotypes...and this adds credibility and realism to the novel."
Clarey says, "My goals in writing are to engage, entertain and educate the reader. In Skinned, my research on human trafficking and stolen body parts is woven into the plot and I hope readers will become aware of these very real evils in our world and do something to change them."
Skinned will be launched in Portland, Maine, the setting of the novel. A percent of the profits earned from sales will go to nonprofit groups working to eradicate human trafficking or help victims. The time and place of the book launch and signing will be announced later.
The author is available to speak to interested groups or bookstores. Clarey talks about the criminal mind, keeping your children safe from traffickers, how human trafficking works, body theft operations, and topics on writing. You can contact her e-mail, email@example.com for more information or to order her books, which are also available at bookstores.
