Agriculture and Food Council Launches News Website

The Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta (AFC) today announced the successful launch of its new website featuring components that maximize the exchange of information for members and other visitors.

Edmonton, Canada, November 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- “The Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta is excited to establish this new online presence,” AFC Chair Heather Broughton said of the new www.agfoodcouncil.com. “It will help us strengthen our current network and allow us to extend our reach to stakeholders throughout the agricultural sector and into related industries. We were so impressed by the vibrance of the new website designed by Mediashaker that we are adopting a similar look for communications material throughout AFC.”

The new website includes many features that will simplify information exchange for AFC members, stakeholders and other visitors. The site allows for membership registration or renewal to take place securely online, and event registration will also be available via the website. There are hyperlinks to member websites, and the capability for people viewing the site to add their relevant events to AFC’s online calendar. AFC members are also able to access a members-only area that includes a discussion forum and other features especially for members.

Expansion of the AFC membership base began in 2010 when membership was made available to individuals and organizations working in Alberta’s agriculture and food industry. The launch of the new website marks the culmination of a period of transition for the Council that also included reducing the Board of Directors from 27 members to nine, and the approval of a Foundation Document that revamps the organization’s mandate in keeping with current circumstances and the needs of the industry.

“The new website is a powerful new tool that facilitates the exchange of information required in order for AFC to successfully carry out its new mandate as a centre for networking, partnership and innovation,” said AFC Executive Director John Connolly.
