Whitefish Credit Union in Columbia Falls Hosts Holiday Angel Tree

Whitefish Credit Union, Montana's largest credit union, is teaming up with North Valley Head Start to ensure children in the community have gifts under their Christmas trees this year.

Columbia Falls, MT, November 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Whitefish Credit Union (WCU) in Columbia Falls has teamed up with North Valley Head Start, part of a nation-wide child development program serving low–income families, to help ensure children in the community have gifts under their Christmas trees this year.

A holiday Angel Tree will be on display in WCU’s Columbia Falls lobby from Nov. 21 – Dec. 21. Hanging from this tree will be tags, each containing a different Head Start child’s age, gender, and items on their wish list. Anyone who would like to participate and make a child’s Christmas special is encouraged to stop by the Columbia Falls branch and pick up their tag early.

“Nothing is more precious than a child opening their gift at Christmas,” said Beverly Wrightson, head teller at WCU in Columbia Falls. “We feel it is important to support our community, especially during these stressful, difficult economic times.”

Organizers have requested that all wrapped or unwrapped gifts be brought to WCU’s Columbia Falls office or North Valley Head Start on or before Dec. 21.

According to Head Start Teacher Advocate Heather Yardy, the Angel Tree program has been around for 20 years, but this is the first year Columbia Falls has participated. Head Start focuses on helping children grow socially, educationally, and emotionally. The program, for children ages 3-5, encourages high levels of parent involvement both inside and outside of the classroom and focuses on preparing them for the future.

“These children are our future, and what better way to fill them with hope and encouragement than by being a positive influence in their lives,” said Yardy.
