QAS Unlocks the UK’s National Land and Property Gazetteers for Public Sector

Public sector data capture system, QuickAddress Gateway is launched by QAS with new searches of land and property gazetteers.

York, United Kingdom, April 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- QAS, an Experian® company, today launched QuickAddress Gateway, its most advanced data capture solution, enabling public sector organisations to search land and property gazettes in England and Scotland and verify the data being captured. QuickAddress Gateway compresses and indexes gazetteer data, allowing users to quickly and easily search and capture name data, addresses, unique property reference numbers (UPRNs) and UK grid references from minimal information.

QuickAddress Gateway ensures that the address data captured is accurate, reducing the risk, expense and delays involved in searching multiple databases. It also helps to support the sharing of information across all systems and achieve service provision and efficiency targets across local government, emergency services, criminal justice and healthcare. It allows operators in each department to process enquiries faster and more effectively, enhancing citizen service.

QuickAddress Gateway allows public sector organisations to find addresses and property grid references from minimal address information. These may be multiple residency properties (eg. universities), non-addressables (eg, public toilets), or ‘street furniture’ (eg, park benches). Each object has geographic co-ordinates and UPRNs (Unique Property Reference Numbers), which make it possible to link different address databases. This is vital when authorities need to access more than a citizen’s postal address. For example, it enables the fast deployment of emergency vehicles to pinpoint the exact location of a playing field if there has been an accident.

Tony Black at Intelligent Addressing, custodians of the National Land and Property Gazette (NLPG), said: “QAS is offering significant support to organisations accessing the NLPG. In doing so, it is helping local authorities achieve ‘joined-up government’ and providing intelligent access to a national infrastructure of land and property addresses.”

“Recent research highlights that 83 per cent of local authorities believe that their Local Authority Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) has improved the accuracy of their service delivery,” concluded Rebecca Clayton, director of marketing at QAS. “QuickAddress Gateway enables authorities to quickly access and use data of their choice, which will help public sector organisations deliver a faster and more efficient service.”
