The Medal Play Golf Tour SoCal Tour Opened 2012 Season at Oak Valley

Beaumont, CA, November 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour opened the 2012 season on Sunday at Oak Valley. “The course was in excellent condition today,” commented tour director Blane Freytag. “Oak Valley hosted PGA Tour First Stage Qualifying two weeks ago and the greens were awfully fast. Some players looked in midseason form as the scoring was pretty good for the opener.”

The Championship Division saw tour veteran Fred Miller fire a 2 under net 70 for his first win of the season. Shane Rutherford fired a 1 under 71 while Erik Williams and Scott Barrie each posted net 74’s. Williams won the card playoff for third place money.

The Gold Division was hotly contested between a couple of tour vets, Michael Rivera and Jan Koelsch. Rivera parred the par 4 eighteenth hole to secure the victory by one shot. Steve Vance took third place money with a net 71 while Mark Kammerlohr took fourth with a net 73.

The Silver Division saw tour veteran Carl Bachelor return from knee surgery and fire a net 66 to edge out Steve High by a single shot. 2011 Tour Champion Lou Alavarez was third.

The tour returns to action at Desert Dunes in Desert Hot Springs on Sunday December 18th.
