Judge Larry Axelrood Kicks Off Campaign for 9th Judicial Subcircuit at Event Hosted by Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl & Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin

Chicago, IL, November 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Over 100 supporters gathered on Thursday, November 17 at Prairie Moon in Evanston to help Judge Larry Axelrood launch his campaign for election to the office of Cook County Judge in the 9th Subcircuit. The campaign reception was co-chaired by Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin and Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, and supporters included 8th Ward Alderman Ann Rainey and Evanston Fire Chief Greg Klaiber.

“Larry is a great judge, and it’s important to have good judges,” stated Mayor Tisdahl. “But he goes beyond simply being a good judge by trying to create a legal system that is better for all of us.”

Since 2005, Judge Axelrood has served as an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County and is currently assigned to the Second Municipal District working at the Skokie Courthouse hearing jury trials, bench trials, contested motions and bond hearings in felony and misdemeanor cases. In addition to his trial duties, Judge Axelrood presides over two specialty court calls – veterans court and a mental health court call. Judge Axelrood’s veterans court is now the second largest in the state of Illinois.

Judge Axelrood has lived his entire life in the 9th judicial sub-circuit. He was raised in Evanston and attended Evanston-Skokie Schools and is a graduate of Evanston Township High School (ETHS). Many of Judge Axelrood’s former ETHS football and baseball teammates were on hand to help him launch his campaign, as was his mother Helen Axelrood who works and resides in Evanston. Judge Axelrood currently lives in Wilmette with his wife Anne Sherman and two children, Jack and Claire.

“I’m honored to be here in my hometown tonight and have so many respected Evanston officials demonstrating their support for my campaign,” commented Judge Axelrood. “This community has been integral to any success I’ve had in my life and it will always be my hometown.”
