Roadpost Secures Exclusive Distribution Deal for DeLorme inReach

DeLorme awards satcom leader Roadpost exclusive master distribution rights for Canada.

Toronto, Canada, November 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Roadpost, a leading provider of satellite communications solutions to business and consumer markets and DeLorme, the innovation leader in mapping and GPS technologies, today jointly announced that Roadpost has been awarded exclusive master rights to distribute the DeLorme® inReach™ two-way satellite communicator with GPS in Canada. The product recently made its commercial debut in North America. As part of this agreement, Roadpost will operate the inReach Canada website (www.inreachcanada.com), where consumers can learn more about inReach and activate their service.

DeLorme inReach promises to revolutionize how people stay affordably connected in areas not covered by cellular phones. Its capabilities address the needs of everyone from outdoors enthusiasts to professional users in remote outposts.

“We selected Roadpost as a partner in Canada for their strong customer service orientation and market reach. Roadpost is already the vendor of choice for thousands of consumer, business and government users in many vertical markets and has a nationwide network of dealers with reach into local markets,” explains Jim Skillings, DeLorme’s Vice President for Commercial Products. “We believe they are very well positioned to take DeLorme’s products to consumer and business markets in Canada.”

“We have considerable feedback that DeLorme inReach is just what the market has been waiting for,” says Roadpost Founder and President, Morris Shawn. “The combination of two-way messaging, SOS and GPS functionality, with the reliability of Iridium’s global network at an affordable price point, should make it a hit with both consumers and professional users.”

“For the first time, people have an alternative to one-way satellite emergency devices at a similar consumer price point; but the inReach two-way communicator will offer the true peace of mind that one-way devices fail to deliver,” remarks Shawn.

The DeLorme inReach will operate as a standalone device or can be paired with DeLorme’s Earthmate® PN-60w or any Android phone for additional messaging and mapping capabilities. As a standalone device, the inReach communicator lets users send pre-defined text messages to designated recipients and activate remote tracking to enable others to follow their footsteps via a continuously updated breadcrumb trail presented on a web map. Unlike one-way satellite messaging devices or PLBs, the inReach provides confirmation that sent messages were successfully transmitted. In the case of an emergency, a protected SOS key can be triggered. When paired with an Android or DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w, users enjoy full two-way text messaging up to 160 characters, to and from email or SMS addresses, and can also post messages to Facebook and Twitter.

Roadpost plans to showcase the inReach device at its booth at the Outdoor Show in Toronto and Vancouver in 2012. Please visit www.inreachcanada.com for more information and a list of retailers in Canada.
