Firm takes Bronze Award in digital marketing excellence.

Fayetteville, NC, November 24, 2011 --( SMITH Advertising, a fully integrated advertising and marketing agency, was recently recognized with a Bronze Adrian Award from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) on behalf of the agency's digital marketing campaign for the Brunswick County Tourism Development Authority (BCTDA) and North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands.

The Brunswick Islands campaign, one of nearly 1,000 national and international Adrian Award entries, was judged as one of the best in its entry category by hospitality, travel, tourism and media professionals. The “More Beach for Your Blanket” Facebook micro-ad giveaway promotion campaign garnered a Bronze Adrian Award in digital marketing excellence.

SMITH Advertising has been the agency of record for the Brunswick County Tourism Development Authority (BCTDA) for over 15 years and continues to seek out new and innovative ways to drive tourists to this unique destination located along the southeastern coast of North Carolina. The “More Beach for Your Blanket” Facebook micro-ad giveaway promotion campaign provided a new and innovative way not to only promote the destination, but also expand the BCTDA database for future communications.

The campaign centered around a 30-day giveaway promotion targeting males and females 18 and older in North Carolina and the Northeast who expressed interest in outdoor activities, the beach, photography and traveling. Facebook members were invited to visit the NC Brunswick Islands’ Facebook page and “Like” it. Upon liking the page and filling out a request for a 2011 visitor’s guide, the member was entered into a drawing that awarded an NC Brunswick Islands beach blanket tote each day, April 4 through May 4, with the winner announced daily in a Facebook update.

The “More Beach for Your Blanket” Facebook micro ad campaign succeeded in increasing awareness and expanding the BCTDA’s marketing database by 3100 new contacts; nearly 1300 people requested the destination’s visitor’s guide.

The Adrian Awards, presented by the HSMAI, honor creative brilliance and best practices in hospitality-, travel- and tourism-related marketing.
