Pacific Ridge School Student Selected to Attend School for Ethics and Global

Eleventh Grader to Focus on Case Studies Related to the World; Meet Political Elite

Carlsbad, CA, November 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Pacific Ridge School eleventh grader, Tony Ibrahim, is one of 21 students throughout the country who has been selected to attend The School for Ethics and Global Leadership (SEGL), a semester-long residential program located in Washington, D.C. The school aims to provide students with a unique curriculum emphasizing ethical thinking skills, leadership development, and coursework in international affairs. Students graduate and return to their home schools equipped with a greater understanding of themselves and an educational experience that will prepare them for the next step in their academic careers.

Students are selected into the SEGL on qualities such as outstanding character, promise for leadership, and scholastic ability. Ibrahim’s participation in programs integral to Pacific Ridge School’s mission, including travel education, service learning and community life, strengthened his passion, qualifications and interest in attending the school. “My experiences at Pacific Ridge School laid the foundation for this program,” said Ibrahim. “Without these experiences, I wouldn’t be in this position to continue my education in a program that caters specifically to my interest in ethics and global leadership.”

Each week at SEGL, students focus on different case studies that relate to the world’s current events. These case studies range from Rwandan genocide and HIV/AIDS in Africa, to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and national debt. SEGL provides students with the unique opportunity to meet with the people who are impacted by and influence these global issues and conflicts. Students also have their work critiqued by speech writers who have worked alongside some of the nation’s most influential leaders.

Ibrahim will return to Pacific Ridge School after the current semester at SEGL concludes on Dec. 17.
