About Michael A. Ramsay

Dr. Michael A. Ramsay is President of the Baylor Research Institute. BRI provides scientific and clinical research for all of Baylor Health Care System’s medical centers. Dr. Ramsay is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist specializing in organ transplant and cardiothoracic, vascular, neurological, pediatric and neonatal surgeries. Dr. Ramsay developed the Ramsay Sedation Scale, a measurement for interpreting the depth of sedation for critical care patients. He has authored more than 150 published articles, textbook chapters and abstracts as well as lecturing at conferences, seminars and symposia. Dr. Ramsay serves as Chief of Service for Baylor University Medical Center’s department of anesthesiology and pain management. He is Medical Director of Anesthesia Services at Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital and a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Association of Anesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, the International Anesthesia Research Society and the Association of University Anesthesiologists. Dr. Ramsay received his Medical Degree at London Hospital Medical College, London University in the United Kingdom.
