Fan Site Celebrates First Birthday

Worlds first Ice Planet fan site celebrates successful year.

Ballymoney, United Kingdom, April 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- In what is believed to be a world first, the unofficial fan site www.ice-planet.tv will celebrate its first birthday even before the filming commences for the HD science fiction television show it was set up to follow.

“For the first time, a TV show will follow its fan site,” joked www.ice-planet.tv editor Vincent Fox, “its usually the fan site that follows the show!”

To celebrate the “big One” on the 31st May, www.ice-planet.tv’s webmaster and designer, Alan Cornish, is planning to launch a radical new design.

“We’ll be redesigning the whole site, giving it a more cosmopolitan feel,” reports Alan, a.k.a. Badmojo. “We wanted to make the site more attractive to our growing German membership. Our graphics man, Martin Grey, we call him Hawkmoon, has been working flat out to produce animated graphics and original artwork for the site.” This follows an announcement at MIPTV in Cannes that German TV station RTL2 has acquired the show, confirming broadcast in Canada, the USA and Europe. German actor Ralf Bauer has also been confirmed as joining the cast, bringing a whole new fan base to the site.

In its first year, www.ice-planet.tv has been a reliable and exclusive source of information on the development of the new HDTV show and console game, Ice Planet, starring Michael Ironside, boasting exclusive concept art pictures and interviews among its many achievements.

“When we set out to build this fan site,” says editor Vincent Fox (affectionately known as thefoxcub), "we never expected it to take the direction it has gone. The site has gone from a fan site to a living history of the production and development of this exciting project.”

Martin has also been working hard producing short “movies” to help promote the site. Ice-Planet shorts can be viewed on Sumo.tv, Metacafe, Youtube and Google™ Video. There is also a “First Anniversary Edition” being planned.

In a separate development www.ice-planet.tv’s American game correspondent, Jackie Fiest, has secured a “walk on part” in the next Splinter Cell novel. Jackie’s site, www.thefairersects.com has been avidly following the splinter cell franchise (and Micahel Ironside) for years and in recognition of this, author David Michaels has given her a cameo. “Jackie's a dedicated Splinter Cell fan” said author David Michaels, “but she's also done so much to directly support the franchise that I feel she's earned a cameo.”

www.ice-planet.tv has gone from strength to strength, generating over half a million hits from 63 countries in the first four months of 2007.
