Campbell Law Hosts 2011 Legal Writing Institute Workshop

Dec. 2 Event Open to All Legal Writing and Law Librarian Professionals, Features Keynote Address from Campbell Law Dean Melissa Essary.

Raleigh, NC, November 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Melissa Essary, dean of the Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law (http://law.campbell.edu), has announced that the school will host a Legal Writing Institute (LWI) One-Day Workshop on Friday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Panel discussions providing tips and best practices on teaching legal writing (persuasion, advocacy, and moot court), legal research, and instructional innovations will be led by experienced instructors from law schools at Campbell University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Dayton, University of South Carolina, Tulane University, North Carolina Central University, West Virginia University, and Wake Forest University.

In addition to the keynote address from Dean Melissa Essary, several professors and adjunct faculty from Campbell Law will be among the notable instructors for the workshop:

- Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Bryan Boyd and Adjunct professor Alexa Chew will serve as panelists for the topic: Persuasion, Advocacy and Moot Court from 10:40 a.m.-noon.
- Professor and Director of the Law Library Olivia Weeks will serve as panelist for the Hot Topics in Legal Research discussion from 1:40 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
- Reference Librarian Stephen Chan will serve as panelist for the Innovations in Teaching Legal Research and Writing from 3:20 p.m.-4:40 p.m.

LWI One-Day Workshops are designed for new legal research and writing professors and adjuncts, but they can benefit all faculty involved in legal writing education, from seasoned legal writing educators looking for new ideas to those thinking about entering the legal writing academy as teachers.
