Webcast Held at EULAR 2011 Launched on Website for Doctors

Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom, December 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- EPG Health Media is pleased to announce the launch of a new interactive webcast detailing three key presentations from a satellite symposium held at European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) 2011. Hosted on the educational website for healthcare professionals www.epgonline.org, the webcast is designed to provide rheumatologists, general practitioners and other healthcare professionals with insights to assist with clinical choices in treating patients with complex osteoarthritis (OA).

The satellite symposium, entitled Clinical Choices in Osteoarthritis Pain Management – Evidence Versus Practice: An Interactive Case-Based Assessment, was held in London, UK in May 2011.

This satellite symposium held at EULAR 2011 has been funded and organised by AstraZeneca. The Faculty is responsible for the content of this educational programme and the views expressed are those of the Faculty and not necessarily those of AstraZeneca. Editorial and logistical support has been provided by Complete Medical Communications Ltd. This symposium webcast contains three multi-media presentations delivered by rheumatologists Michael Doherty MA MD FRCP FHEA, Marc C. Hochberg MD MPH and Francis Berenbaum MD PhD.

Michael Doherty discusses the importance of basing treatment decisions on evidence from multiple sources; expert opinion, clinical trials and patient opinion. He also details clinical guidelines and explains how these can be used to provide effective, individualised treatment for patients with OA.

Marc C. Hochberg explains the gastrointestinal (GI) risk factors associated with current OA treatments, and how to identify those patients with high risk of developing GI complications. Emphasis is given to identifying which treatments should be provided to patients with varying GI risk factors in line with current guidelines.

Francis Berenbaum concludes the webcast with a presentation detailing the treatment approaches for patients with OA and both cardiovascular and GI risk factors. He explains how to determine these risk factors and which treatments are suitable in a variety of challenging cases often met in clinical practice.

“The three video presentations with supporting slides and background documents can all be viewed by our physicians for free at www.epgonline.org/eular,” said Chris Cooper, EPG Health Media. “We are grateful to our partner, AstraZeneca, for supporting such a great, interactive resource.”
