Solving Industrial Ethernet Connectivity Problems with the DeviceMaster-UP

Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, December 08, 2011 --(PR.com)-- A major American brewing company needed to network multiple production processes together and be able to operate in temperatures in excess of 60°C without failing. Multiple controllers and production machines needed to be seamlessly connected and it had to work flawlessly. After extensive research and testing, the company chose Comtrol’s DeviceMaster-UP.

The Modbus TCP version of the DeviceMaster UP provides the brewery a flexible, easy-to-use and highly robust solution. A mix of Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU and Modbus ASCII Controllers and production machines needed to communicate to each other. The DeviceMaster UP seamlessly networked all of these systems together.

During the production process, every bottle, can and keg is filled to the exact specifications, marked and coded with a serial number and date of manufacture. These are then packaged at the palletising and shrink wrapping machine.

Each production machine’s communication statistics and diagnostics are monitored through embedded web pages provided by the DeviceMaster-UP, ensuring reliable factory uptime and efficiency. Comtrol’s DeviceMaster UP was able to provide superior interface, flexibility, and functionality for the brewery’s production plant.

Tony Elvidge, VP Sales and Marketing at Comtrol Europe commented, “This use of the DeviceMaster-UP by the brewery is another example of how Comtrol’s products have been used to solve industrial Ethernet connectivity problems.”
