New Years Eve Party Celebrates the End of the World

Partying like it’s 2011 is the new 1999, promoters say.

Chicago, IL, December 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Last New Years Ever, a New Years Eve party set to occur in Chicago's uber-hip Wicker Park, promises a guilt-free celebration “fit only for the apocalypse,” as event promoters claim. As 2012 approaches, and with some believing doomsday may be upon us, organizers Ground Lift Media and Siren Haus are staging a decadent, end-times style affair they assure would make the Mayans envious. Chicago DJs Maker, John Simmons, Trew, Demchuck, Newlife, and Rude One, along with host Psalm One, will be on hand making sure attendees will “party like it’s 2011.”

“We wanted to produce an event that would mark the end of the world, the last great NYE party the masses would ever attend, easy on the pockets, and of course sans all of the sacrificial bloodletting,” Ground Lift's Nigel Ridgeway explains. With a live visual performance by Shudder Inc. supplementing the cataclysmic theme, as well as art installations created by Glorii Be and CZR PRZ, both DJs and artists alike are poised to “make the heavens and earth collide,” Ridgeway adds.

As the night progresses, attendees will enjoy a wide array of musical genres. One of the headlining acts, DJ John Simmons, a staple among Chicago's legendary House music scene, cut his teeth by working under preeminent House DJ / producer Green Velvet. The night is also promising an all star cast of talent which event promoters say includes something for everyone, from House to Hip-Hop, Electro to Funk. The Chicago-based DJ / Producer Maker is also a featured headliner. Being a self described “crate digger,” as well as having a reputation for being a prolific beatmaker, his DJ sets are known to touch on an assortment of styles. Having performed alongside such musicians as Portishead and De La Soul, Maker's style and resume transcends genres. Rude One, of the famed DJ collaborative Single Minded Pros and founder of the monthly Hip-Hop event “The Goodness,” is slated to provide booming beats for even the shrewdest Hip-Hop aficionado. Other DJs Trew, Newlife, and DJ Demchuck – whose bios cite a plethora of preferred genres to spin, from Disco to Brazilian Baile Funk – all add plenty of scope to the night's “something for everyone” aural atmosphere. Chicago MC Psalm One has also signed on, and will entertain guests as hostess for the evening.

Party goers will enjoy a hosted bar from 9:00pm until midnight, with a complimentary champagne toast for ringing in the New Year. Tickets are $30, which covers both the hosted bar as well as the champagne toast.
