)-- Accessory designer, Alice Huang creates unique sustainable handbag by intertwining Eastern and Western culture using deconstructed vintage kimonos with classic Western silhouettes to create unique and limited edition handbags. By re-using materials to create sustainable handbags, a beautiful on-of-a-king item is created without waste while preserving the environment. Mei Vintage is a handbag line that prides itself on originality. Taking inspiration from her bi‐cultural upbringing, her love for nature and all things cultivated by hand, Alice Huang brings together modern influences from the West and the vibrant culture of the East to create exquisite handbags. With an environmentally conscious thread running through the heart of her designs, Alice is a designer that embodies all things ‘Mei’ (Chinese for beautiful). Within the line look out for casual hobo shapes, perfect for everyday wear and made from the softest of Italian leathers. Streamlined wallets are infused with Asian inspired prints, while elegant clutches see wooden handles a‐top soft, leather pleats for a timeless, classic appeal. Feminine shoulder bags complete the collection with a detail‐focused design embodying all facets of the Mei Vintage brand. The first feature you’re bound to notice on these spectacular designs is the exquisite vintage Kimono fabrics used throughout. These incredible prints come from Alice’s personal collection of Kimonos, which she began to build back in Hawaii during her college years. Alice instantly fell for the intricacy of the Kimono and an on‐going love affair with textile began. These traditional fabrics are used in conjunction with high quality leather remnants and hemp cotton lining, turning these discarded materials into something unique and uncompromisingly beautiful. Mei Vintage is hand‐made in the USA in small batches, giving each design a unique and limited‐edition feel. Combine this with the mix of new, organic and recycled materials used, and you end up with a collection of stunning, one‐of‐a‐kind pieces. Based in Hermosa Beach in California, Mei Vintage unites the contemporary with the ancient, the East with the West and does so with careful consideration of Mother Earth. Mei Vintage is available exclusively through www.meivintage.com and selected fine boutiques across U.S. and soon to Europe and Asia.
