)-- For the month of December, Outer Banks has a series of workshop events offered to its locals, tourists and to anyone interested to attend the event. Most of these workshops are themed for the holidays and offered not just for adults but there are workshops for kids as well. Gingerbread Making Workshop at Argyles Restaurant (4716 N. Croatan Hwy Kitty Hawk)
On December 13, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, attendees will learn how to decorate gingerbread house and how to roll & bake them. In addition, attendees will also learn how to create royal icing to hold the structure together. This workshop only cots $35 and already includes the Gingerbread house and all the candies to decorate it. Refreshments are provided. To register, call 252 261 7325.
The Art of Wreath Making at The Elizabethan Gardens (1411 National Park Drive Manteo)
On December 17, 2011 from 10:00 am in the morning up to 12:00 noon, attendees will learn how to decorate their homes for the holiday season with a wreath that they made themselves. Holiday House Weddings’ Kim & Wes Stetson will be sharing their knowledge of wreath making. The wreath base, cuttings and greening pins will be provided by The Elizabeth Gardens and participants can bring their own ornaments, ribbon or any add-ons that participants want to include in their wreath. Kid’s Craft Day at The Elizabeth Gardens (1411 National Park Drive Manteo)
On December 17, 2011 as well and from 10:00 am up to 12:00 noon, kids of ages 5 and up can also have their own workshop as their parents attend the “Art of Wreath Making” workshop or get ready for the holidays. This program will provide kids with arts and crafts activity with story time, watch floral creations of butterflies, peacocks, & deer, and have an exceptional stroll through the Elizabethan Gardens.
